All aboard for a Magical Mystery Tour

CALL FOR ARTIST ENTRIES

A juried exhibit at the
Historic Ritz Theatre

October 2011

In conjunction with the opening performance of its 2011-2012 Performing Arts Series, Yesterday: A Tribute to the Beatles,” Golden Isles Arts and Humanities Association is presenting a new visual arts exhibit of work in all media inspired by or based on the music of the Beatles.

From Meet the Beatles through Abbey Road and Let It Be — and beyond — the music of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr has been arguably the most influential and well-loved of any band in history.  And this is an opportunity for artists to bring their own creative expression to the many songs and albums The Beatles recorded over the years.

The exhibit, “A Magical Mystery Tour,” will be on display in the Historic Ritz Theatre in Downtown Brunswick, October 7-29, 2011. There will be an opening reception at the theatre October 7, 5:00-7:30 p.m., part of the First Friday event that draws hundreds of people to Downtown Brunswick every month. At 8:00 that evening, the Beatles tribute show will be performed at the Ritz, creating an opportunity for the artwork to be seen by up to 400 more people.

Artworks may be interpretive of a song, lyric, or album, or of the Beatles iconography in general. Artists are encouraged to think beyond literal interpretations of lyrics to create pieces that offer a fresh and stimulating vision of the inspirational material. Artists may sell their work at this show.

This exhibition is open to professional artists, and only original artwork will be accepted.

Please complete the entry form and send it with your entry fee as indicated. We look forward to seeing your work!
