GIAHA began as an all volunteer group of outstanding citizens with a mission to promote and strengthen the arts and humanities in Glynn County. In 1990, GIAHA assumed responsibility for managing the Ritz Theatre for the City of Brunswick. In 1991, GIAHA was designated the coordinating arts council for Glynn County and the City of Brunswick.
During
the last fifteen years, GIAHA's commitment to developing and expanding the arts
and humanities in the community has grown to include cultural and community
events, arts education programs and much more. A short list includes:

Art Series at the Historic Ritz Theatre, as well as special
events throughout the year
- Annual Jazz
in the Park summer concert series at the SSI Lighthouse

education workshops, classes and performances for the nine elementary
schools and four middle schools in Glynn County
