the Glynn County School System, GIAHA brings professional artists directly to

Why is arts education
valuable?
Arts education is not just about teaching someone to draw a picture or play
an instrument. Arts education is about…
- Building thinking
skills: analysis, evaluation and critical judgment
- Nourishing
imagination and creativity
- Recognizing
the importance of process
- Acquiring collaborative
skills
- Fostering an
appreciation for diversity
- Developing
such valuable personal traits as self-confidence and self-discipline
What kind of programs
are available?
- Visual arts
- Creative writing
- Dance
- Music
- Theater
- Storytelling
- Workshops created to meet your needs
How do I bring an artist to my school?
- Decide if you want local artists to visit your school or
have a regional artist come in for a week-long residency.
- Each school may have 23 programs or classes (45-60 minutes
each) by one or more local artists or a one-week residency (four sessions
of 45-60 minutes per day for five days) by one artist in any discipline.
- A directory
of artists is available by contacting GIAHA at 262-6934 or email: executivedirector@goldenislesarts.org.
